Install Virtual Box and run Ubuntu on it 

On MacBook :

To install VirtualBox and run Ubuntu on MacBook, follow these steps:

1. Download VirtualBox: Visit the official VirtualBox website (https://www.virtualbox.org) and download

the version of VirtualBox suitable for macOS.





2. Install VirtualBox: Locate the downloaded VirtualBox package (.dmg file) and double-click on it to start

the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.


3. Download Ubuntu ISO: Go to the official Ubuntu website (https://ubuntu.com) and download the Ubuntu Desktop ISO image. Choose the appropriate version based on your requirements (e.g., 64-bit, LTS).


4. Create a New Virtual Machine: Open VirtualBox, click on the "New" button to create a new virtual machine. Give it a name (e.g., Ubuntu) and select "Linux" as the type and "Ubuntu (64-bit)" as the version. Set the desired amount of memory (RAM) for the virtual machine, keeping in mind the system requirements of Ubuntu.





5. Create a Virtual Hard Disk: Choose the "Create a virtual hard disk now" option and select "VDI

(VirtualBox Disk Image)" as the hard disk file type. Select "Dynamically allocated" for the storage, then

specify the size of the virtual hard disk. The recommended minimum is around 20-30 GB, depending on

your needs.

6. Configure Virtual Machine Settings: With the virtual machine created, select it from the VirtualBox

Manager interface and click on "Settings." Adjust the settings as needed, including the number of CPU

cores, display settings, network configurations, and any additional devices or features you want to enable.


7. Install Ubuntu: With the virtual machine settings configured, select the virtual machine and click on

"Start" to launch it. In the VirtualBox window, click on the "Choose a virtual optical disk file" button and select the Ubuntu ISO you downloaded. The virtual machine will start booting from the ISO file, and you

can follow the on-screen instructions to install Ubuntu.


8. Complete Ubuntu Installation: During the Ubuntu installation process, you'll be prompted to select

installation options, create a username and password, and configure system settings. Follow the installation wizard until Ubuntu is successfully installed on the virtual machine.



9. Install Guest Additions: After Ubuntu installation, it is recommended to install VirtualBox Guest

Additions. In the VirtualBox window, go to the "Devices" menu and select "Insert Guest Additions CD

image." Follow the on-screen instructions within Ubuntu to install the Guest Additions, which provide

additional features and better integration between the host and guest systems.


10. Start Ubuntu: Once the Guest Additions are installed, restart the virtual machine. Ubuntu should now

start up within the VirtualBox window, and you can log in to your Ubuntu desktop environment.

To install VirtualBox and run Ubuntu on your Windows machine, follow these steps:

the version of VirtualBox suitable for Windows. Choose the installer based on your operating system

version (e.g., Windows 10, 64-bit).


2. Install VirtualBox: Locate the downloaded VirtualBox executable (.exe) file and double-click on it to start the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. You may need

administrator privileges to install VirtualBox.


3. Download Ubuntu ISO: Go to the official Ubuntu website (https://ubuntu.com) and download the Ubuntu Desktop ISO image. Choose the appropriate version based on your requirements (e.g., 64-bit, LTS).


4. Create a New Virtual Machine: Open VirtualBox, click on the "New" button to create a new virtual

machine. Give it a name (e.g., Ubuntu) and select "Linux" as the type and "Ubuntu (64-bit)" as the version.


5. Set Memory and Storage: Assign an appropriate amount of memory (RAM) for the virtual machine. The

that suits your needs (e.g., erase disk and install Ubuntu or manual partitioning).


9. Complete Ubuntu Installation: After the installation completes, restart the virtual machine. Ubuntu should now start up within the VirtualBox window, and you can log in to your Ubuntu desktop environment.


10. Install Guest Additions: It is recommended to install VirtualBox Guest Additions to enhance the

functionality and integration between the host and guest systems. In the VirtualBox window, go to the

"Devices" menu and select "Insert Guest Additions CD image." Follow the on-screen instructions within

Ubuntu to install the Guest Additions.
